Sustainability is one of our core values

Korowal is a K-12 independent school located in beautiful bush surrounds in Hazelbrook.

Being a small school, Korowal is a community where teachers, parents and students know each other and build lasting relationships.

Our focus is to provide an environment where relationships are the heart of the learning process. We value empathy, creativity, resilience and critical thinking. Our learning framework of integrated focus studies accommodates the talents and needs of every student.

Our programs allow time for childhood. Students are not ranked against each other because education is not a race.

Sustainability is one of our core values. Korowal is continually assessing and developing environmentally sustainable practices. We aim for social, educational and environmental sustainability, aspiring to be a school that is beneficial for the present and future world community.

Staff and students actively participate in:

• Recycling.
• Compost making.
• Vegetable garden creation and maintenance.
• Terracycle dental waste collection.
• Clean Up Australia Day.
• Bush School Day each term, including bush regeneration initiatives.
• Use of water tanks.
• Encouraging the use of ‘keep cups’ at school events.
• Class camps for year 3-12 promoting respect and care for nature.
